The We Care Foundation of Indian River is pleased to announce the date of its 6th annual Mardi Gras Celebration, to be held on Friday, Feb. 28, 2020, from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Oak Harbor Club in Vero Beach.
The community is invited to dance, dine, socialize and – most importantly – support the We Care program celebrating its 29th anniversary in 2020 and the program’s dedicated volunteer physicians.
This year’s Mardi Gras is guaranteed to be the best one yet as Phoebe’s Samba Dancers will once again “get the party started” and provide entertainment throughout the evening. Also returning is D J Louis G who will bring his exciting repertoire of dance music, lighting and other surprises.
Adding to a true Mardi Gras carnival atmosphere will be a casino, games, stilt walkers, a magician, a 50/50 raffle, fabulous Bourbon Street buffet and open bar. Tickets are $175 each.
Founded in 1991 as a cooperative venture between the Indian River County Medical Society, the IRC Health Department, and the IRC Hospital District, the We Care program coordinates volunteer physician services for qualified uninsured indigent patients in Indian River County. More than 130 volunteer physicians and other medical professionals provide care to as many as 3,000 qualified Indian River County residents each year. These services are valued at over $1 million annually.
The Mardi Gras Celebration is the We Care Foundation of Indian River’s signature fundraising event. Proceeds return directly to the Indian River County community to help meet We Care program and We Care Clinic non-physician ancillary medical or medically related needs for We Care patients. Examples include after-care wound dressing, cataract lenses, emergency prescription assistance, and transportation for medical appointments.
