The City of Sebastian has put out the call for volunteers. Several boards and committees are in need of willing, qualified volunteers to help shape the City’s vision and lend advice on various topics.
Volunteers are needed to fill vacancies on the City’s Budget Advisory Board, the Construction Board, the Natural Resources Board, and the Planning & Zoning Commission.
All potential volunteers, regardless of board or committee, must meet residency requirements to be considered.
The Budget Advisory Board is seeking two at-large members who would serve until November 2020. The board helps the City prepare its budget and review the process.
Board members also make recommendations to the City Council before the first budget hearing of the fiscal year.
Applications will be accepts until Nov. 13.
The Construction Board is looking for volunteers in specific sectors of the construction industry – an electrical contractor, an HARV contractor, and a contractor.
The Board is also looking for two alternates to fill a concerned citizen post and a contractor.
All but the board contractor post will expire on Sept. 30, 2020. The regular board contractor post expires Sept. 2021.
The Natural Resources Board is responsible for putting together the City’s annual Earth Day celebration and advises the City Council on environmental issues focusing on preservation, regulation, and asset management.
The Board is looking for one person to fill the unexpired regular member term. The post expires July 2022.
And the Planning and Zoning Commission is seeking applicants to fill an expired regular member post as well as an alternate member, both of which will run until Nov. 1, 2022.
Applications for all the volunteer openings are available at the Sebastian City Clerk’s Office in City Hall, 1225 Main St., Sebastian and can be picked up between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
