Gordon L. E. Byers, 53, Vero Beach

Gordon “Gordie” L. E. Byers, 53, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Oct. 10, 2019, at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, following a short illness.

Gordie was born on Feb. 23, 1966, in Cheverly, Md. He was the beloved son of Dr. Gordon E. Byers and Birgitta Hammar Byers, and the beloved brother of Dr. John C. “Cris” Byers, and lived the majority of his life in Vero Beach.

He was a graduate of Vero Beach High School and Florida Atlantic University, where he graduated summa cum laude. He was granted membership in the Golden Key International Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and Phi Theta Kappa Society. He also received the Traci Jill Edelman Memorial Award in Latin American History from FAU for his high academic attainment.

Gordie loved to spend time on the Indian River boating and fishing. He also loved to ride his motorcycles.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, G. Ellsworth Byers and Frances P. Byers; and his Swedish grandparents, Gösta and Greta Hammar.

He will be missed greatly by his family, but know that we will all be together with the Lord in Heaven one day. Services will be held privately by the family.

Ann Marie Franchville, 55,

Ann Marie Franchville, 55, of Vero Beach, and Wildwood Crest, N.J., died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019, at the Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital. Ann was born April 18, 1964, in Philadelphia, the daughter of Edward J. Masterson and Kathryn M. Masterson.

She is survived by her husband, Peter Franchville; daughter, Leanne Franchville; son, Sean Franchville; mother, Kathryn Masterson,; sister, Marybeth Sees; brothers, Edward Masterson and David Masterson; their spouses; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, from whom she shared a special affinity.

Ann attended The Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale and founded Wild Ocean Surf Shop right out of college.

She recently worked in administration at TJMaxx.

She enjoyed the beach, camping, travel, and gardening.

Ann will be missed dearly by friends and family.

A Mass will be held 10 a.m., Oct. 25, at The Church of The Assumption, 7110 Seaview Ave., Wildwood Crest, N.J.

Deborah Jermyn, 72, Sebastian

Deborah “Debby” (nee Bloch) Jermyn, 72, of Sebastian, passed peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2019. She was born on Dec. 14, 1946.

She graduated from Swampscott High School in 1964 and received her BA in Education from Bridgewater State University.

She was a beloved teacher in the Barnstable school system for many years and she was passionate about making a difference in her student’s lives.

After relocating to Florida, she wore many hats as a bookkeeper and office manager for a law firm.

She enjoyed traveling to see her grandchildren, reading, and spending time with her friends.

Debby filled the room with her generous spirit, infectious laughter, and her wonderful sense of humor.

She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Donald; her children, Pamela Jermyn, of Cary, N.C., and Michael Jermyn, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; her grandchildren, Ryan and Tyler Kaley, of Cary, N.C.; and her sister, Charlotte Bloch, of Peabody, Mass.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
