Richard Dominik Barattini Jr., 57, Vero Beach
Our dear brother, son, father and friend Richard Dominik Barattini Jr. left us to join his Lord and Savior on Monday, Oct. 7, 2019.
Richard battled his cancer bravely and without complaint and is finally at peace. He was an avid outdoorsman and watersports enthusiast and lived his life to the fullest for his 57 years.
Richard is survived by his parents, Richard Barattini Sr. and Patricia Barattini; his three sons, Richard III, Michael and Joseph Barattini; three grandchildren, Aeva, Alexandria and Joseph Jr.; his fiancé Donna Scarcella; siblings, Angela St. Mary, Laura Tripp, Nicholas Barattini, Michael McGee and Kevin McGee; and many cousins, aunts, uncles and dear friends.
A Memorial Service is scheduled at Strunk Funeral Home, 916 17th St., Vero Beach, on Tuesday Oct. 15 at 4 p.m.
Our friends are cordially invited to join Richard’s family in the Strunk Plaza Reception Center immediately after the service for food and refreshment.
Billy Ray Bentley, 74, of Vero Beach
Billy “Bill” Ray Bentley, 74, of Vero Beach, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019, surrounded by his wife and children at Atlantic Shores Nursing and Rehab in Melbourne, Fla. Bill was born in McVeigh, Ky., and moved to Vero Beach in 1967 from Belfry, Ky.
He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, during which he was stationed in Germany.
Bill had worked for the Vero Beach Police Department before his retirement. He coached in several youth baseball leagues in Indian River County and loved all sports.
But noteably, Bill was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria M. Bentley, of Vero Beach; daughter, Michelle (Scott) Funnell, of Sebastian; son, Brian (Karin) Bentley, of Orlando; sisters, Phyllis Sedalisky, of Vero Beach, Della (Gary) Miller, of Winter Haven, and Jeanne Macri, of Chesapeake, Ohio; and grandchildren, Kyle (Megan), Kirk, Kaden Funnell and Bryce Bentley; and several nieces and nephews, whom he adored.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William McKinley Bentley and Frances Irene Maynard; and a sister, Mary Ellen Bentley Turner.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Vero Beach Police Foundation, 1055 20th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
The family will receive friends 2-3 p.m., on Saturday Oct. 19, Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach, with a prayer service celebrating his life beginning at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach. Guests are invited to a reception at Cambridge Park Clubhouse following the ceremony.
Dorothy Scott Hogan, 91, Vero Beach
Dorothy Scott Hogan, 91, of Vero Beach, passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019. She was born in Jacksonville, Fla., and had lived in Belle Glade, Palm Beach, and Lake Worth, prior to moving to Vero Beach.
Dorothy Scott was a graduate of Vero Beach High School. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a former Queen of Daughters of the Nile also, the Hibiscus Circle of the Garden Club of Indian River County.
Mrs. Hogan is survived by her sons, Scott Hogan, of Okeechobee, Fla., and Doyle Hogan, of Vero Beach; three granddaughters, Courtney (Bip) DiPietro, Allison Votzi, and Britan Hogan (husband, Anthony Dzielski), all of Vero Beach; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Megan DiPietro and Robert DiPietro, Jr. and Brittany (Kyle) Patton, Logan and Madison Votzi, and Alfred and Walter Dzielski; great-great-grandchildren, Bailey, Kyle, and Kinsley Patton; and her sister-in-law, Barbara Scott, of Bethesda, Md.
Mrs. Hogan was predeceased by her husband, A. Roy Hogan in 2007.
The family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 10, with a Memorial Service to follow at 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church, Vero Beach.

Shawn William McAndrews, 41, Vero Beach
Shawn William McAndrews, 41, of Vero Beach, passed away on Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, in Vero Beach.
A gathering will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 2-3 p.m. at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel.
Vincent Joseph Montuoro, 95, Vero Beach
Vincent Joseph Montuoro, 95, of Vero Beach, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019, in Charlotte, N.C. Vince was born in Philadelphia, Pa., to Joseph and Mary Montuoro, on May 31, 1924.
He went to high school at Frankford High School in Philadelphia and graduated in 1941. He joined the Army serving in the Army Air Corp division in Europe during WWII. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sargent in December 1945.
On June 12, 1948, Vince married Connie Uliano. She was his longtime love and together they began their life and family.
Keeping with his love of aviation he started working at Wings Field in Philadelphia as a FAA certified aviation mechanic. He also joined the Air National Guard of Pennsylvania. His reserve unit was activated in April 1951 when Vince served during the Korean war in the Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant aircraft maintenance officer. He was honorably discharged from the Korean war in July of 1952 and continued to serve in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard until being honorably discharged in May of 1955 at the rank of 1st Lieutenant.
Vince then joined Brantley Helicopter Corporation in Frederick, Okla., where he worked for 11 years becoming executive vice president.
After Brantley, he joined Piper Aircraft in 1966 in Vero Beach, where he worked until his retirement in 1989. Vince advanced at Piper to become the general manager of the Vero Beach plant and later was promoted to become senior vice president, which included plant operations in Vero Beach and Santa Maria, Calif.
While in Vero Beach, Vince was active in community service. He was a lay minister at Saint Helen’s Catholic Church for over 20 years. After retirement, he became a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church. He was also appointed to the board of directors of Indian River Citrus Bank in addition to serving on the Vero Beach Planning Commission.
Vince also served on the board of trustees for Indian River Memorial Hospital. He was later recognized by the community for his years of service.
Vince served his country honorably as well as his community. He was successful in business and well accomplished.
What was most important to Vince was his family. He was devoted and supportive of his beautiful wife Connie over the 71 years they were married. No love is stronger than the love they shared.
As a father, Vince was always there for his five children. He was their light showing them the way along life’s challenges. His faith guided them and gave them their moral compass to live by. All five children became successful in life, living their lives the way any Father would be proud of.
Vincent is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 71 years, Connie Montuoro, of Charlotte, N.C.; and his five children, Jim (Ginger) Montuoro, Carol (Fincher) Jarrell, Vince Jr. (Eva) Montuoro, Bob (Lisa) Montuoro, Mary K. (Frank)McAbee; five grandchildren, Christy Montuoro Donnelly, Gina (Matt) Hounam, Nick Montuoro, Emily (John) Calhoun, Todd Montuoro; and five great-grandchildren, Savanah Donnelly, Tyler Donnelly, Jackson Hounam, Jameson Hounam and Caroline Calhoun.
Vincent Joseph Montuoro is preceded in death by his father, Joseph; his mother, Mary, DiAntonio; and brother, Louis Montuoro.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 12, at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach, at 9 a.m. The Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. Burial/Interment will be at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.
