A Sam’s Club jewelry counter employee turned away from the suspects for just a moment – and in that moment, the thieves struck a cash key on the register and made off with a watch and six Visa gift cards, Port St. Lucie police said.
The agency is seeking the public’s help to identify the suspects who struck the 10900 S. U.S. 1 Sam’s Club on Sept. 10.
According to police, the suspects entered the store around 6:45 p.m. and proceeded to the jewelry section. They selected a man’s Seiko watch and six Visa gift cards. They then started to check out at the jewelry counter.
At some point during the process, the employee was not looking at the register and a suspect reached across and hit the “cash” key, effectively cashing out the transaction without taking payment.
The suspects then left the store with the watch and gift cards.
Store surveillance footage shows three suspects all described as black males in their late teens or early 20s.
One has a medium build and was wearing a white shirt with a “Champion” symbol, black basketball shorts and black sneakers. Another has a thin build and was wearing a red basketball tank top, red basketball shorts and black slide shoes with black socks. The third also has a thin build and was wearing a white shirt, yellow and black patterned shorts and white socks with black slide shoes.
