Man hurt after SUV crashes into front doors of Wells Fargo

VERO BEACH — A 75-year-old motorist was hurt after his sports utility vehicle crashed into a Wells Fargo building, shattering glass, destroying the front doors, and leaving about $20,000 in damages to the bank, police said.

The incident happened about 6 p.m. Monday at the bank, located at 21st Street and 6th Avenue on Miracle Mile. The black Dodge Journey driver, Thomas Bradley, Vero Beach, had bruises to his arms and legs from air bag deployment, police spokesman Master Officer Darrell Rivers said.

The man was taken by ambulance to Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital with minor injuries, Rivers said.

There were no other passengers in the SUV. The bank was closed during the incident and there were no employees inside, Rivers said.

The wreck left the SUV with heavy front end damage, about $10,000 in repair costs, Rivers said. The SUV was towed from the scene about 7 p.m.

Police are investigating what caused the collision. Further details were not immediately available.
