While Florida and the rest of the nation ponder the start of the 2020 presidential primary races, it’s one year out from August 2020 primaries for county and state races. Voters in the Melbourne Beachsider’s readership area also will get to pick the following state and local officials:
■ Florida Senate District 17, currently held by Debbie Mayfield. The district includes Indian River County and Brevard County north to the Cocoa Beach area.
■Florida House District 52, currently held by Thad Altman. The district runs from Melbourne Beach north toward Cocoa Beach.
■Florida House District 53, currently held by Randy Fine. The district runs from Sebastian Inlet north to the area south of Melbourne Beach.
■Brevard-Seminole Public Defender, currently held by Robert Blaise Trettis.
■ Brevard County Commission District 3, currently held by John Tobia. The district runs from Sebastian Inlet North to Melbourne Beach.
■ Brevard County Commission District 5, currently held by Kristine Isnardi. The district includes the part of the barrier island in the Indialantic area.
■Brevard County Sheriff, currently held by Wayne Ivey.
■ Brevard County Property Appraiser, currently held by Dana Blickley.
■Brevard County Supervisor of Elections, currently held by Lori Scott.
■Brevard County Tax Collector, currently held by Lisa Cullen.
