Environmental Enthusiasts paddled their hearts out during a Paddle Dash: For Lagoon Friendly Lawns event last Saturday morning.
Participants gathered bright and early at Vero Tackle and Marina before taking to the water to compete in individual and team paddles along scenic routes in the Indian River Lagoon.
The event, hosted by Paddles by the Sea and sponsored by Dale Sorensen Real Estate, was created to raise funds and awareness for the Keep Indian River Beautiful Lagoon Friendly Lawn program.
The program promotes the reduction of the runoff from excess nutrients from yard waste and lawns that contributes to toxic algae blooms, such as the red tide which forced the postponement of last year’s event.
This year’s winner of the traveling Corporate Paddle Battle Trophy was the Boston Barricade team.
