Two seriously hurt in stabbing; man faces attempted murder charges

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 23-year-old man faces attempted murder charges after deputies said he stabbed two men, leaving them with serious injuries.

Miguel Angel Gomez- Lopez, of the 2700 block of Oslo Road, was charged with two counts of attempted murder, Indian River County sheriff’s spokesman Maj. Eric Flowers said. Booking information for Lopez was not immediately available.

Deputies responded to reports of a stabbing about midnight Tuesday in the 2700 block of 12th Square Southwest. One victim was stabbed in the stomach and head and the other was stabbed in the back and neck, Flowers said.

Both men were taken by ambulance to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce with serious injuries, Flowers said. Gomez-Lopez, a construction worker, was detained just down the road and taken into custody.

The motive behind the stabbing and further details were not immediately available.
