Christ Church Vero Beach to host Veterans Salute Barbecue Aug. 10

VERO BEACH — Christ Church Vero Beach will host the 5th Annual Veterans Salute Barbecue Saturday, Aug. 10, from 1 to 3 p.m. for all veterans and their families.

The event is being held inside the Christ Church Vero Beach 9.23 Community Center located at 667 20th St. in Vero Beach.

The 2019 Veterans Salute Barbecue is coordinated with the Veterans Council of Indian River County to express gratitude to veterans and their families for their service with a free lunch and patriotic entertainment. The lunch, provided by Christ Church Vero Beach volunteers, will feature pork barbecue, coleslaw and baked beans followed by cherry cobbler for dessert.

Special activities include an honor guard, musical tributes, and a keynote address by Pastor Dave Newhart, a veteran who served more than four years in the United States Air Force and is the current rector of St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church in Sebastian. Fr. Newhart also serves on the Executive Board of the Veterans Council.
