Frank Blodgett Francisco, 66, Vero Beach

Born Aug. 24, 1952, to the late Costa and Frances Francisco in Dallas, Texas, Frank Blodgett Francisco, 66, passed away on July 12, 2019, after an ugly battle with Alzheimer’s. It was probably the only battle he ever lost.

He was raised in Orlando with his brothers and sisters around the family nursery, Blodgett Gardens. Frank graduated from Bishop Moore High School and received his bachelor’s degree in criminology from FSU. After living in Tallahassee, he moved to Juneau, Alaska, to run wilderness survival programs for troubled youth.

He returned to Florida and started his own company providing social services for adults and children at risk.

He retired in 2014 and moved to Vero Beach to enjoy traveling, fishing and boating. He was an avid outdoorsman, sports and wine enthusiast, fisherman and photographer.

Frank had a passion for life, his country, and his alma mater. He will be remembered for his infectious enthusiasm, tremendous wit and incredible laugh.

Frank is survived by his wife, Taylor; his three children, Brittney, Alexandrea, and Dylan; his siblings, Nicholas, Angelea, Penelope, Michael (Denise), Christopher (Lori); his granddaughter Lela Marie Garcia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frank will remain in our hearts always.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 19, at 11 a.m. at Saint Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 475 43rd Ave., Vero Beach, FL 32968.

Marie Lugli Raymond, 81, Vero Beach

Beloved mother, wife, and grandmother, Marie Lugli Raymond, 81, died peacefully on July 11, 2019, at Hospice House in Vero Beach. She was born in New Britain, Ct., to Joseph and Cecilia Cianci on June 27, 1938.

She graduated from New Britain High School in 1956 and she never missed a class reunion until her illness.

In 1978, Marie moved to Vero Beach with her four daughters to live closer to her parents while starting a new chapter in her life.

Marie was well-known for her contagious smile and her love of family, life, and people.

In 1979, she began her banking career at the Beach Bank Motor Bank in Vero and she truly loved her position as a bank teller for 20 years.

Marie had a passion for serving and meeting the needs of every customer, even the four-legged ones, that accompanied their owners while visiting her window for banking transactions.

She was an exceptional cook, and she will be forever remembered for her delicious Italian dishes and baking of cookies and pies.

She was also an avid dancer and lover of music. Marie would have a smile on her face while dancing or whistling to her favorite tunes.

Marie will be forever in our hearts and greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Raymond; four daughters, Karen (Kenny) Cobb, Sharon Lugli, Kimberly Lugli, and Kathy (Ron) Petkaitis; her grandchildren, Natalee, Tyler and Isabella; and her great-granddaughter, Ainslee.

Marie was predeceased by her first husband and father of her four children, John Lugli.

A Celebration for Life for family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 27, at 4 p.m. at the Riverhouse, 305 Acacia Road, Vero Beach.

R. Scott Sutherland, 76, Sebastian

R. Scott Sutherland, 76, of Sebastian, and formerly of Des Moines, Iowa, died Saturday, July 13, 2019, peacefully in his home with his wife by his side.

Scott was born and lived most of his life in Iowa before retiring and moving to Florida in 2002.

Scott was a Teamster (Local 147) for 25 years driving “pup pup” trailers throughout the Des Moines and surrounding areas. Prior to that he worked along side his father at their car dealership selling new and used automobiles – his favorite being the Rambler.

Scott enjoyed his retirement years golfing, traveling the world with his wife and dear friends, but his favorite pastime was sitting by his pool watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, drinking a cold Old Milwaukee and smoking a Bronson.

Scott will be waiting on the other side for Linda (nee Waldo), his best friend and wife of 26 years. He is also survived by his daughter Kim (spouse, Jerry) Terrell; and his other children, Kristan and Brian Sutherland.

If you knew Scott, you know that he went by many names, but his favorites were Papa and Pops. He loved spending time with his grandchildren Zac (Tiffany) Mason, Hillary (James) Illingworth, and Anthony (Lauren) Crawford golfing, watching the Hawks or just sitting still while they made his hair into one of a kind masterpieces. He was also blessed with three step-grandchildren, their families and the newest additions, his great-grandchildren, Chloé, Maverick, Cora, and Willow.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Dorothy Sutherland; and his sister, LeAnn.

David Leo Wade, 88, Vero Beach

David Leo Wade, 88, of Vero Beach, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2019. He was born in Indianapolis, Ind., to William A. Wade and Dorothy Metzgar Wade.

He graduated from Purdue University and served honorably in the U.S Army.

He and his wife, Betty Jane Schroyer Wade, who survives him, have been Vero Beach residents since 1996.

Family and friends are invited to a reception to be held Tuesday, July 16, from 10-11 a.m. at Indian River Estates West, Multipurpose Room, 7730 Indian Oaks Drive, Vero Beach.
