Carlos Esteban Carvajal, 60, Vero Beach

Carlos Esteban Carvajal, 60, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on July 7, 2019, at the VNA Hospice House surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born on April 9, 1959, in Bogota, Colombia, to parents Gladys Beatriz Rojas and Campo Elias Carvajal.

He graduated from the University of INPAHU in Bogota, on Dec. 9, 1985, with his bachelor’s degree in Hotel Administration.

One of his biggest passions was music, he was a percussionist and performed in various groups during his youth with his main instrument “el guiro” as well as timbales, tambores and maracas.

For the last 30 years he worked at Vincent’s Pizzeria in Vero Beach, where he was known as “Charlie” and loved by all of his coworkers. He made delicious Sicilian pizza and the best ricotta cheese.

Some of his hobbies included dancing, swimming, walking in nature, cooking, and enjoying time with family.

Many would describe him as a gentle soul, kind, friendly, humorous, authentic, down to earth, very organized and always cared to act with integrity.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ruiz; and two daughters, Nancy and Kacy Carvajal; four sisters, Gilma Solis, Elsa Carvajal, Nancy Velasquez and Claudia Camacho; his mother, Gladys Carvajal; five nieces; four nephews; and a grandbaby who’s due in February 2020.

Mass to celebrate the life of Carlos was held at St. Helen Catholic Church. Interment followed at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.

 

Emilie Grace Klave Fucci, 70, Sebastian

Emilie Fucci, 70, of Sebastian, passed away July 2, 2019.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, July 20, at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home, Vero Beach.

Memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice of IRC, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

 

Mary Lou Marini, 77, Vero Beach

Mary Lou Marini, 77, of Vero Beach, passed away July 12, 2019, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Kenilworth, N.J., to Lucille Monahan and Alfred Wussler.

Mary Lou graduated from Springfield Regional High School in Springfield, N.J.

She was married to Peter Marini Aug. 8, 1959.

Mary Lou is best known for her loves: family, caring for everyone, feeding armies, Dodgers baseball and Christmas. Holidays for her were opportunities to bring family together and decorate the whole house; she had 11 different themed Christmas trees every year. In her house, you were family; she fed and housed all of the kids’ friends over the years.

She was a partner with her husband, Pete, in Elmer’s Flea Market for 37 years. Mary Lou also enjoyed cruising the Caribbean with Pete.

July 12, 2019, will be remembered as the day Vero Beach stood still.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Pete; her six children, Terri (Gino), Peter (Dorothy), Patti, Richie (Mikey), Steve (Diana), and Anthony (Melissa); and 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lynn Petschow and Patti Kuraze.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m., July 19, at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home.
