The Watercrest St. Lucie West Assisted Living and Memory Care Community, valued at $20.5 million, was the most lucrative new project completed last year in St. Lucie County.
The 116,845-square-foot building at 279 SW California Blvd., features 102 assisted living apartments, 26 memory care apartments, dining facilities, balconies, courtyards, a pool, salon and spa.
A total of $287.8 million worth of new businesses and residences were completed in St. Lucie County in 2018, an increase of $139.8 million, or about 94 percent compared to 2017.
Overall, the taxable value of St. Lucie County’s real estate rose to $22.1 billion, an increase of $1.7 billion or more than 8 percent compared to last year, property appraiser records show. Port St. Lucie accounted for nearly half the increase with a total taxable value of $10.8 billion as of Jan. 1, 2019, records show. The taxable value of the real estate in the county’s unincorporated areas was $8.8 billion.
In addition to Watercrest, the four other most valuable new projects completed in 2018 in Port St. Lucie were also businesses. All four were built near Interstate 95.
The new Extra Space Storage facility, 2100 SW Gatlin Blvd., just east of I-95, has an appraised value of $13.6 million, records show.
The new Floor & Décor store, 2260 SW Gatlin Blvd., also just east of I-95, has an appraised value of $8.9 million.
The new South Florida Orthopedics and Treasure Coast Urgent Care office, 9401 SW Discovery Way, has an appraised value of $5.7 million, records show.
The most valuable new project completed in 2018 in St. Lucie County’s unincorporated area of was Maverick Boats’ new 110,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, 4551 St. Lucie Blvd., records show. It has an appraised value of more than $9 million.
The other four most lucrative projects in the unincorporated area were mansions, three overlooking the ocean on South Hutchinson Island south of the FPL Nuclear Plant and one in the rural area west of Verano/PGA Village.
La Potencia II LLC, of Boca Raton, built a 14,805-square-foot house with 10 bathrooms, a gym and a game room on a 206-acre tract, 16675 C-24 Canal Road, that has an appraised value of $3.6 million records show.
The three waterfront mansions built in the Diamond Sands subdivision in 2018 ranged in value from $2.7 million to $2.9 million, records show.
