Infant pronounced dead at hospital after parents found him not breathing

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — An infant was rushed to the hospital and died Saturday morning after his parents found the child unresponsive and not breathing, deputies said.

Indian River County deputies responded to the incident about 8 a.m. Saturday at a home in the Timber Ridge Village community in south county, sheriff’s spokesman Maj. Eric Flowers said. Deputies tried to revive the infant, but were unsuccessful, Flowers said.

The boy’s age was not immediately available.

The infant was taken by ambulance to Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead, Flowers said. An autopsy to determine what caused the boy’s death will be performed this upcoming week, Flowers said.
