Woman charged after cocaine, heroin found in backpack

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 35-year-old woman was arrested after deputies found bags of cocaine and heroin in her backpack, reports show.

The woman – identified as Lindsey Anne Keenan – denied knowing she had the narcotics, reports show.

Deputies arrested Keenan, of the 2400 block of 2nd Court, on charges of possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, possession or consume alcohol in public and possession of drug paraphernalia. Keenan was held Tuesday at the Indian River County Jail on $11,000 bond.

An Indian River County deputy stopped Keenan about 4 a.m. Thursday in the 2800 block of 41st Street. The deputy spoke with Keenan, who was walking eastbound and holding an open container of Four Loko, an alcoholic beverage.

Keenan told deputies she was coming from a friend’s house, reports show. She said she was walking to the gas station for a ride.

The deputy searched the center pocket of Keenan’s backpack. Inside, the deputy found two clear plastic bags containing cocaine and heroin, reports show.

The deputy also located a syringe in the backpack’s rear zipper-pocket, authorities said.

Deputies arrested Keenan and took her to the county jail. Keenan has an arraignment at 8:45 a.m. August 2, court records show.
