INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Two people were seriously hurt after a single-car rollover Tuesday afternoon that shutdown northbound 66th Avenue for several hours, fire rescue crews said.
The wreck involving a red Honda happened about 1 p.m. Tuesday in the 3300 block of 66th Avenue, Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Kyle Kofke said. The driver and passenger were taken to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce with serious injuries.
One person was taken by ambulance while the other was flown by helicopter, Kofke said. The collision closed northbound 66th Avenue from 33rd Street to 37th Street.
The road reopened Tuesday evening; the exact time was not immediately available. The Florida Highway Patrol will investigate what caused the crash, spokesman Alvaro Feola said.
