The man – identified as Brian Dosio – burglarized his ex-fiance’s residence after the two argued at a bar earlier that day, reports show. Once inside, Dosio choked the woman and repeatedly punched her 9-month-old puppy after the dog tried to bite him, authorities said.

Deputies arrested Dosio, of Lakeworth, on a variety of charges including cruelty to animals, burglary dwelling with assault and battery, petit theft and battery. Dosio was held Monday at the Indian River County Jail on $127,500 bond.

Indian River County deputies were called to a disturbance about 2 a.m. Sunday at the woman’s home. The woman told deputies Dosio broke in and attacked her, leaving the woman in fear for her life, reports show.

Dosio did not live at the residence, deputies said.

Dosio choked and punched the woman, spit in her face and said, “You’re a (expletive),” authorities said. Dosio dumped the woman’s purse, took her keys to her Dodge van and then fled the scene in his own vehicle.

Deputies observed the woman had a swollen lip and redness around her neck, reports show.

Deputies saw Dosio driving his vehicle near 6th Avenue Southwest. Deputies stopped the vehicle, found the keys to the woman’s Dodge van inside and detained Dosio, reports show.

Deputies arrested Dosio and took him to the county jail. Dosio has an arraignment at 8:45 a.m. May 10, court records show.
