A drive-thru window of sorts at restaurant following crash

Staff at El Cubanito Restaurant on SE Port St. Lucie Boulevard are picking up the pieces after a vehicle plowed into the eatery last weekend. No one was injured and no gas leaks or fire were reported.

According to Port St. Lucie Police, a 44-year-old woman, identified as Stacey Howe, hit the gas pedal instead of the brake while trying to park in front of the restaurant on March 10.

The incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. at 1660 SE Port St. Lucie Boulevard, when Howe attempted to park her 2015 white Toyota Corolla.

The vehicle jumped the sidewalk curb and crashed through the front glass of the eatery. The car came to a stop fully inside the building.

Howe told police that she accidentally pressed the gas pedal while trying to park. Police cited Howe for careless driving.
