Members of the Vero Beach Art Club painted a picture-perfect weekend for their 68th annual Under the Oaks Fine Arts & Crafts Show, a juried art show that raises funds for local scholarships and enrichment programs to help promote art through education.

More than 200 artists participated in the three-day art show, setting up their vendor booths under the majestic oaks in Riverside Park. Art enthusiasts scurried from tent to tent, taking in the vast array of mediums including acrylics, glass, photography, pastels, oils, wood, jewelry and pottery.

“The artists that we have participating this year have so many different, unique things to show. The crowd seems to be more mesmerized by what they are seeing than in other shows,” said Soozi Schuble, event co-chair with Alicia Quinn and Jodi Woodall.

The show contained everything from jewelry made using 50- to 100-year-old recycled piano ivory, to mundane images of everyday life juxtaposed to create innovative pieces, and lots of vibrantly colored works featuring birds and dolphins as well as abstract splashes of color.

Attendees strolled about perusing .the wonderful selections, stopping periodically to chat with artists from around the nation about their various techniques, styles, mediums and perspectives before deciding which new pieces to add to their collections.

From March 29-31 at the Marsh Island Clubhouse, the Vero Beach Art Club will host New Dimensions, a national juried and judged show featuring strictly 3-dimensional artwork. For more information, visit verobeachartclub.org.
