INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A new Burger King restaurant could be coming to the commercial area at 53rd Street, if the county approves.
The county is currently reviewing plans to build the burger chain at U.S. 1 and 53rd Street, officials said. The intersection has shown increasing interest from national retailers, including several at the Harbor Point shopping mall, said Michael Yurocko, vice-president and broker for SLC Commercial.
The mall, which contains a Publix Super Market, is across from U.S. 1 and the proposed Burger King site. The site is located between a new Dunkin Donuts under construction and a Walgreens at 53rd Street.
The proposed restaurant’s land parcel, which is just under an acre, was recently sold to Seven Real Estate Holdings LLC, a related entity of the local Burger King franchise, Yurocko said. The property was sold for $750,000, Yurocko said.
SLC Commercial, one of the largest brokerage firms on the Treasure Coast, represented the seller of the land where the eatery could soon be located, Yurocko said. The seller is an entity managed by Michael Collard, a well-known retail developer in the area and throughout Florida.
The Burger King would be about 2,900 square feet with drive-thrus, Yurocko said. The restaurant location is one of several that are new or under development along the Treasure Coast, with more locations being considered.
