The unidentified man had a deep cut to his upper back and numerous scratches over his upper body, neck, face and arms. Puente had no visible injuries other than a small, superficial cut on her hand, reports show.

Indian River County deputies were called to reports of a stabbing about 2:30 a.m. Thursday at the home.

Deputies spoke with a woman inside the residence, later identified as Puente. Puente had earlier accused her boyfriend of cheating, which led the two to argue, reports show.

Puente told deputies she stabbed the man after he choked her in their bedroom. Puente changed her story multiple times, saying the two were rolling around on the floor hitting each other, reports show.

The man told deputies Puente attacked him first and that he pushed her to get her away from him. Puente then grabbed a scalpel and stabbed the man, reports show.

The man was taken to the Indian River Medical Center for treatment, reports show.

Deputies arrested Puente and took her to the county jail. Puente has an arraignment at 8:45 a.m. April 12, court records show.
