Police: Suspect steals phones, cash in Metro PCS robbery

VERO BEACH — Police are searching for a man who they said manhandled a store manager before stealing several cell phones and cash from the business, officers said.

The incident unfolded at 10 a.m. Friday at the Metro PCS store, located in the 1000 block of 21st Street, Vero Beach. Vero Beach police said a man got out of a white Nissan Maxima and went inside the business.

The suspect “manhandled” the manager to where the cell phones were stored, police said. The man gathered the phones in a large white trash bag.

Police said the suspect ordered the manager to take out the cash from the register. A weapon was not used, police said.

The amount of money stolen was not immediately available. Officers said the suspect fled in the Nissan and traveled west on State Road 60.

The suspect was wearing a dark red hoodie sweatshirt, blue jeans ripped in the front, sneakers and a red baseball cap, police said. The vehicle he fled in has a coin slot sun roof and dark tinted windows.

Anyone who knows the identity of the man should contact police Detective Lee Evans at 772-978-4662 or levans@vbpd.org.
