INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Deputies reopened 49th Street after shutting down the road following a crash where a car slammed into a power pole, sending power lines into the road.
Law enforcement closed 49th Street from 29th Avenue to Old Dixie Highway about 2 p.m. Thursday, officials said. The road was reopened by 3 p.m.
Two people hurt in the wreck were taken by ambulance to the Indian River Medical Center with minor injuries, said Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Kyle Kofke and sheriff’s spokesman Maj. Eric Flowers.

The single-vehicle collision involving a Nissan Altima happened shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of 28th Court and 49th Street, said Kofke and Flowers. Fire rescue crews and sheriff’s deputies were at the scene.
Crews from Florida Power & Light Co. also responded to the wreck. Kofke said the crash did not cause any power outages.
A tow truck arrived to remove the damaged car about 3:30 p.m. The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
