A domestic dispute took a turn for the violent when a man drove his car into his ex-girlfriend’s home while their baby slept, according to the Port St. Lucie Police Department.
The man – identified as Palm Bay, Fla., resident Jeffrey Eugene Williams, 29 – faces several charges that include attempted murder, aggravated battery, burglary and criminal mischief.
Police were called out to the woman’s home on SW Bartell Avenue Wednesday, Jan. 16, around 9:30 p.m. in reference to a stabbing.
According to police, Williams and his ex went on a date during which they argued and she asked to be taken home.
Williams obliged and dropped her off at her home on SW Bartell Avenue and then left. But he came back shortly thereafter, police said, and drove his car into the front double doors of the house.
The woman and her mother escaped the house by climbing out a window, while her father and sleeping 9-month-old baby remained inside.
Williams then went inside the house and stabbed the woman’s father in the arm. After the stabbing, Williams fled, police said.
The father was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated for a large laceration and stab wound.
He was in stable condition and expected to recover, according to police.
Williams was booked into the St. Lucie County Jail where he was held in lieu of $22,500 bond.
