Alexandra Danielle Morton told deputies the woman gave her permission to take the pills, reports show.

Deputies arrested Morton, of the 5900 block of Ridge Lake Circle, Vero Beach, on two counts of possession of a controlled substance, theft and two counts of theft of a prescribed substance. Morton was held Thursday at the Indian River County Jail on $22,000 bond.

On Jan. 15, Indian River County deputies spoke with the victim, who said she noticed her 60 oxycodone pill prescription was down to eight. The victim suspected her home health aide, Morton, was stealing the pills, reports show.

Morton arrived again, cleaned up the home and then left. The victim then noticed more pills were missing from the bottle.

A hidden camera captured Morton taking the pills and hiding them in her purse while at the residence, reports show.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop Tuesday on Morton as she left the victim’s home.

Deputies arrested Morton and took her to the county jail. Morton has an arraignment at 8:45 a.m. March 15, court records show.
