UPDATE: Body in water identified

SEBASTIAN — Authorities have released the identity of the man whose body was found floating in the Indian River Lagoon near Squid Lips in Sebastian over the weekend.

The man is 38-year-old Joshua C. Hill.

“At this time it is believed that foul play did not occur,” said Sebastian Police spokesman Lt. Tim Wood in a statement released to the media Tuesday. “However, the case is still an active investigation.”

The agency continues to seek the public’s help in providing information that might aid in the investigation. Those with information are encouraged to call Sebastian Police at (772) 589-5233 and speak with Det. Garrison.

SEBASTIAN — A body was pulled from the Indian River Lagoon near Squid Lips Overwater Grill in Sebastian Saturday.

The call came in around 1 p.m., according to Sebastian Police spokesman Lt. Tim Wood. The body is that of a white male in his 30s. No further information was available regarding the man’s identity nor manner of death.

Lt. Wood said an autopsy would performed next week and the police department is working to notify the next of kin. Once next of kin has been notified, Lt. Wood said he expects to be able to release the man’s name.

A supervisor reached by phone at Squid Lips declined to comment on the incident.
