INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Sheriff’s detectives continue to investigate a December murder-suicide where a neighbor found a husband and wife dead inside their county home.
Detectives think the husband, 72, killed his wife, 64, and then himself, sheriff’s officials said. Detectives found a gun inside the couple’s Waterway Village home in the 5100 block of Formosa Circle, north of Gifford and west of U.S. 1.
The names of the man and woman were not released.
Detectives said a neighbor went inside the couple’s home to check on them about 12:30 p.m. Dec. 13, 2018. The neighbor saw the couple dead and then called 911, sheriff’s officials said.
Detectives think the two were dead for several days before the neighbor discovered their bodies. Detectives think the husband and wife were the only two involved in the incident, sheriff’s officials said.
Deputies are waiting on a report from the Medical Examiner’s Office to get more details about the cause of deaths. The investigation remains open, sheriff’s officials said.
No further details were immediately available.
