Indian River County Commissioner Peter O’Bryan has been selected by Governor Ron DeSantis to serve on his Transition Advisory Committee on Government Operations.
O’Bryan will serve with 32 others. He is one of two on the committee who are elected officials, the other being Brian Corely, supervisor of elections in Pasco County.
There are six past-elected officials on the team, the rest coming from the private sector.
O’Bryan said he didn’t know why he was selected and that his name was put forth by the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council.
He was informed of the appointment on Monday, Dec. 17, and it was announced in the Tuesday County Commission meeting.
The other County Commissioners congratulated him on the appointment, which also reflects well on the county, they said.
O’Bryan’s future travel costs to carry out his duties for DeSantis in Tallahassee was approved by his fellow commissioners.
