27th Ave reopen after Friday two-vehicle crash

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Authorities said northbound 27th Avenue has reopened after being blocked from a two-vehicle crash that left one person hospitalized Friday.

The collision, involving a grey Toyota and a blue Chevy, happened about 2:30 p.m. Friday at 8th Street and 27th Avenue, south of Vero Beach, Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Alvaro Feola said. One of the drivers was taken by ambulance to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce.

It was not immediately known if anyone else was hurt in the crash.

The crash temporarily shut down the northbound lanes on 27th Avenue. All lanes were reopen by about 3:30 p.m., FHP reports.

FHP continues to investigate the cause of the collision. Further details on the crash were not immediately available.
