More charges added for man suspected of impregnating girl, molestation

INDIAN RIVE COUNTY — A 55-year-old man suspected of molesting an 11-year-old girl earlier this year now faces additional charges of impregnating the victim’s sister, authorities report.

Authorities charged Anthony James Collier, of the 4100 block of 39th Drive, Gifford, with sexual battery on a child and impregnating a child under 16.

Indian River County deputies originally arrested Collier on a molestation charge after investigators interviewed the girl in that case about her contact with Collier. The victim said Collier touched her private parts over her clothing in April, court reports show.

Deputies later spoke with the girl’s 15-year-old sister, who said Collier had sex with her multiple times over the past five years, authorities said. The older sister told deputies that she was pregnant with Collier’s child.

Collier threatened to kill the older sister in the past if she told anyone about their relationship, reports show. Collier denied the allegations after being questioned by deputies.

Deputies arrested Collier and took him to the county jail. Collier remained at the jail Thursday without bond.
