Faye S. Cobb, 79, Sebastian

Faye S. Cobb, 79, passed away peacefully in her home in Sebastian on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018, surrounded by loved ones. She was born Jan. 19, 1939, in Clewiston, Fla., to William E. Boone (former mayor of Sebastian) and Helen Meyer Boone. She was a lifelong resident of the Sebastian area.

Faye was married to Eugene “Gene” F. Cobb, who went to be with the Lord in 1997. Mrs. Cobb was employed by Indian River Estates in Vero Beach, as a personal care assistant for 20 years and often spoke fondly of her work with the residents following her retirement. Throughout her life, Faye was joyfully active in church ministries. As a young mother, she served in children’s and outreach ministries at the former First Baptist Church of Sebastian. She and Gene were charter members of Riverside Church, and following his death, she continued serving in the prison ministry where she had volunteered 50 years, ministry to troubled youth, and in various leadership capacities.

Faye is survived by her daughter, Robin Cobb Brock (Phillip); and sons, William Mark Cobb, Craig (Muriel) Cobb, and Timothy (Lynn) Cobb; as well as 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Loved ones and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of her Life service at Riverside Church, 11205 Roseland Road, Sebastian, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, to reflect on Faye’s life, family, and faith.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. Cobb’s memory to Riverside Church at the above address.

Arrangements are under the direction of Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian.

 

Matthew “Matt” Yount, 63, Vero Beach

Matthew “Matt” Yount, 63, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018. He was born April 8, 1955, in Indianapolis, Ind., to the late Robert and Elizabeth Yount.

Throughout his childhood, Matt and his family lived in Indianapolis, Ind.; Louisville, Ky.; Cincinnati, Ohio; Denver, Colo.; Waterford, Mich.; and Atlanta, Ga.

After settling in Vero Beach and attending Vero Beach Senior High School, Matt turned his attention to the family business – Design Cabinet of Vero Beach, a custom cabinetry shop – where he developed his skills as a master woodworker and eventual business-owner.

He was an active member of the Elks Lodge #1774.

A devoted husband, he was known for his love of SCUBA diving, water skiing, boating, and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patti Yount; brother, Scott Yount (Helen); brother-in-law, Greg Cloutier; brother-in-law, David Stephen; mother-in-law, Mavis Stephen; niece, Beth Miller (Sam); nephews, Matthew Yount (Ashley), and Alex Yount; and 3 grandnephews, plus 1 grandniece.

He is predeceased by his parents, Betty and Bob Yount; and his sister, Gail Cloutier.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 10 a.m., immediately followed by funeral services at 11 a.m., both at Strunk Funeral Home, 916 17th Street, Vero Beach.
