GIFFORD — A local middle school remains on a boil water notice issued Tuesday because of an underground pipe that was shut off for repair, officials said.
The notice might be lifted Friday, pending water testing results from the Indian River County Department of Health, School District spokeswoman Cristen Maddux said. Officials from the health department and emergency services department were at Gifford Middle School Wednesday morning.
The school is located at 4530 28th Court, west of U.S. 1 and north of 45th Street.
The pipe was turned off Tuesday at the school campus after dismissal, Maddux said. Necessary precautions were taken and bottled water was delivered to the school Wednesday morning.
