INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 21-year-old man suspected of firing a pellet rifle at a woman who was sitting on her front porch, was arrested on a warrant Wednesday, deputies said.
The man – identified as Kevin Louis Moss- told deputies he was “house sitting” all day and not involved in the incident, reports show. It is unclear if the two knew each other.
Deputies arrested Moss, of the 1200 block of 10th Avenue Southwest, on charges of shooting or throwing a deadly missile and culpable negligence. Moss was released Thursday from the Indian River County Jail on $52,500 bond.
Indian River County deputies responded to reports of shots fired about 6:30 p.m. Sept. 16 in the 2200 block of 13th Place Southwest. A woman told deputies she was sitting on her front porch earlier when a motorist, identified as Moss, stopped his ’90s style gray pickup near her home.
Moss pulled out the pellet rifle and fired a single shot in the woman’s direction, reports show. The woman said she heard the “bang” and was in fear for her life.
Moss then drove away from the home. The woman saw her front door was hit by a pellet from the rifle, reports show.
Deputies searched the area and saw the pickup in the driveway of a home in the 3500 block of 13th Street Southwest. Deputies spoke with Moss and then detained him.
On Monday, the woman positively identified Moss through a photo lineup as the man who shot at her, reports show.
Deputies arrested Moss and took him to the county jail. Moss has an arraignment at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 31, court records show.
