GIFFORD — A 20-year-old bicyclist was seriously injured after colliding with a vehicle in a late Tuesday crash, a Florida Highway Patrol official said.

Troopers identified the bicyclist as Rakeya Jackson, of Port St. Lucie. The 2003 Honda driver was identified as Jacquelyn Armstrong, 64, of Barefoot Bay. It is unknown who violated the right of way.

Jackson was listed in critical condition late Tuesday. Her condition has since improved and she has non-life threatening injuries, Indian River County Fire Rescue spokesman Cory Richter said.

Armstrong was not seriously hurt.

The two-vehicle crash happened about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at U.S. 1 and 41st Street. Jackson was taken by ambulance to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce, FHP spokesman Alvaro Feola said.
