VERO BEACH — A 36-year-old man suspected of inappropriately touching an underage girl at an oceanside hotel, was arrested Sunday, authorities said.
Vero Beach police officers arrested Sean William Maynard, of the 8700 block of 96th Court, on a charge of lewd and lascivious molestation. Maynard was released Monday from the Indian River County Jail on $20,000 bond.
The case unfolded when the child and her mother went to police on Sunday. The girl, who is under 12 years old, told police that Maynard touched her privates earlier when she was at the Historic Driftwood Resort, 3150 Ocean Drive, reports show.
The girl then told a family member, who notified police.
Maynard then voluntarily went to the police department for questioning. But, when officers asked him about the allegations, Maynard refused to give a statement, reports show.
Police arrested Maynard. Maynard has an arraignment at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 26, court records show.
