Edith Mingear, 92, Vero Beach

Edith “Butch” Mingear, 92, of Vero Beach, passed away on Aug. 22, 2018, at the Consulate Heath Care Center in Vero Beach after a long struggle with Parkinson’s and Dementia.

Butch was born in Shelby, Ind., on May 12, 1926, to Jesse Elmer and Harriet Belle Latta, and was one of 11 siblings.

She married Jack “Jake” Mingear on Jan. 1, 1942, and later moved to Rensselaer, Ind., where she resided until 2013.

She was known to many as the “Avon Lady” and even made deliveries on snowmobile when the roads were too dangerous to drive on.

Edith is survived by her son, Jack “JL” Mingear; grandchildren, Darren (Jill) Mingear and Cynthia Mingear-Traver; great-grandchildren, Jacob Mingear, Sam Mingear, Harris Traver, and Willa Traver; sister, Bessie “Bet” Csonka; and brother, Herman “Les” (Sharon) Latta.

She is predeceased by her husband; parents; sisters, Nina, Emma, Glea, Mabel, and Ester; brothers, Forrest, Ernest, and Clarence; and daughter-in-law, Anna May.

Butch had a zest for life that could be felt by all who knew her. She lived each day fully and met life’s challenges with laughter and love. Her tenacious sprit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends 10-11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Strunk Funeral Home with a memorial service celebrating her life beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mark Wiker, 61, Vero Beach

Mark Wiker, 61, of Vero Beach, passed away on Monday, Aug. 20, 2018. He was born in Rock Falls, Ill., on Oct. 5, 1956.

Mark attended Newman Catholic High School, and Illinois State University.

He retired from his birthplace and moved to Vero Beach in 2005.

Mark was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church.

Survivors include his companion, Sheri Young, of Vero Beach; sisters, Paula (Dan) Larson, of De Pere, Wisc., and Mary (Greg) Ritz, of Noblesville, Ind.; nieces, Dana Jermstad, and Nicole and Cameron Ritz; nephews, Noah Larson and Nathan Ritz; cousins, Frank and Connie Selmi, of Rock Falls; and numerous cousins.

Mark was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Ann Wiker and nephew, Zack Larson.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
