VERO BEACH — A 22-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after police said they found several drugs – including 448 ecstasy pills – at the man’s home.
Vero Beach police officers arrested Michael David Shapiro, of the 1500 block of 14th Avenue, on a variety of charges including trafficking ecstasy, possession of meth and possession of marijuana. Shapiro was being held Tuesday at the Indian River County Jail on $70,000 bond.
Police initially responded to reports of gunfire about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday at Shapiro’s home. Officers detained Shapiro and searched his apartment.
Inside Shapiro’s bedroom, officers found hundreds of ecstasy pills, 1,348 grams of THC concentrate, 237 grams of marijuana and 16 grams of meth, reports show. Police also found scales, packaging, glass pipes, items used to make THC concentrate and ledgers used to keep track of drug transactions.
Officers then discovered $3,962 in Shapiro’s home. Police did not state if any weapons were located in the home.
Police arrested Shapiro and took him to the county jail. Shapiro has an arraignment at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 26, court records show.
