GIFFORD — A 34-year-old woman suspected of striking a woman’s leg with a vehicle and threatening to beat her with a tire iron because of a dispute over giving the victim and two others a ride to Publix, was arrested Wednesday.

Deputies said the woman – identified as Danyelle Shavone Reason – did not want to drive the victim, her neighbor and daughter to the store. After coming from Publix, Reason stopped the vehicle twice and tried to fight the woman, reports show.

Indian River County sheriff’s deputies arrested Reason, of the 6400 block of 35th Lane, on charges of aggravated battery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Reason is being held at the Indian River County Jail on $26,000 bond.

Deputies responded to a disturbance about 3:30 p.m. July 14 in the 4500 block of 56th Avenue.

The victim told deputies she called another woman, identified as Reason, and asked for a ride to Publix. When Reason refused, the victim told Reason she owed her a favor, reports show.

Reason then picked up the victim, her daughter and neighbor. Reason and the victim argued on the way to the store, located at 2040 58th Avenue.

After leaving Publix, Reason and the victim continued to argue. Reason pulled the vehicle over twice, got a tire iron from her trunk and smashed her own rear window, reports show.

The victim got out of the vehicle with her daughter and called 911, authorities said.

A passerby picked up the victim and her daughter and drove them home, reports show. Reason drove the neighbor home and then drove to the victim’s home.

Deputies said Reason took the victim’s mail and threw it on the road. When the victim tried to pick up the mail, Reason struck the victim in the left leg with her vehicle, and then sped off, reports show.

The victim had bruising, but refused to be taken to the hospital. Deputies arrested Reason and took her to the county jail.

Reason has an arraignment at 8:30 a.m. August 15, court records show.
