INDIAN RIVER SHORES — Reports of three luxury vehicles – including a Porsche convertible – stolen from a private residential community over the weekend has prompted police to review footage from cameras nearby to search for the suspects.
This is the first reported incident of automobile thefts at the John’s Island community this year, Cpt. Mark Shaw, with the Indian River Shores Public Safety Department, said Monday. Shaw said police are trying to determine how the vehicles were stolen and think multiple suspects might be involved.
The stolen vehicles were a Mercedes GLC 300, 2018 Porsche Convertible and a Toyota Land Cruiser, Shaw said. None of the vehicles were recovered by 2 p.m. Monday.
Shores officers spoke with the vehicle owners on Sunday. The owners said their automobiles were stolen about 2 a.m. Sunday from a condominium parking lot at John’s Island, located between Jaycee Park and Grand Harbor Golf & Beach Club on State Road A1A.
To determine which direction the vehicles went on State Road A1A, Shaw said officers are inspecting video from cameras on poles on the side of the road that capture license plates coming into and leaving Indian River Shores.
Shaw could not comment on if any suspects were captured on video surveillance at John’s Island. John’s Island security officers declined to comment.
No further information was immediately available.
