John L. Hesse, 62, Vero Beach

John L. Hesse, 62, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2018, with family members at his side. John was born Nov. 5, 1956, to John D. and Elizabeth M. Lennon Hesse.

John graduated from Allegany Central School, in 1975, and then enlisted in the US Army. He served for four years. He later returned to Allegany and worked for Erie Builders.

In 1986, he moved to Florida and worked at various construction companies before his early retirement due to his illness.

While in Florida, John’s favorite pastime was fishing with his good buddy, Randy. John never knew a stranger – everyone he met became his friend, especially Junior and Shorty.

He is survived by three sisters, Mary (Gary) Sirianni, of Olean, N.Y.; Joan Hesse, of Vero Beach; Margaret (Tom) Nuss, of Allegany, N.Y.; two brothers, Michael (Phyllis) Hesse, of West Columbia, S.C., and William Hesse, of Vero Beach; three nieces, Sarah (Sean) Maxwell, Shannon Hesse and Bianca Hesse.

He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Joseph Hesse.

Per his request, he will be cremated and a service will be held at a later date.

Sarah Elizabeth Peace, 30, Sebastian

Sarah Elizabeth Peace, 30, devoted wife to James Peace, mother to children Mason and Julia, daughter to Troy and Janet Price went to be with the Lord on July 9, 2018. She was born in Ocala, Fla., and lived in Sebastian for three years coming from Ocklawaha, Fla.

Sarah worked for Somerset House as a server. She enjoyed playing with her children and cherished her family.

Survivors include her husband of six years, James M. Peace; son, Mason Price; and daughter, Julia; father, Troy Price, of Ocklawaha; and sister, Cassie Price, of Ocklawaha.

Sarah was predeceased by her mother, Janet Price.

Memorial contributions may be made to LaPorte Farms, 7700 129th Street, Sebastian, FL 32958 in loving memory of Sarah Elizabeth Peace.

Visitation will be held 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, July 21, at Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian, followed by a Celebration of her life at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Chaplain David Thompson, officiating. Interment will take place at Winter Beach Cemetery, Winter Beach.

Beatrice A. Siebel, 82, Sebastian

Beatrice A. Siebel, 82, died July 15, 2018, at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach with her loving family by her side. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., and moved to Sebastian in 1983 coming from Erie, Pa.

Bea worked for Earl’s Hideaway for 19 years. She loved her job, those she worked with and her customers.

She was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Sebastian.

Survivors include her husband of 28 years, John Siebel; daughter, Valerie Davis, of Berlin, Md.; brother, Bobby, of Sebastian; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Lawrence Bresee.

Memorial contributions may be made to VNA & Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960 in loving memory of Beatrice A. Siebel.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 20, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Sebastian, with Father Marcos Zamora, officiating.

A Celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. at Earl’s Hideaway Lounge & Tiki, Sebastian following the Mass.

Maria Vergilia Soares, 80, Vero Beach

Maria Vergilia (née Barbosa) Soares, 80, widow of Mario A. Soares, died on July 9, 2018, at her home in Vero Beach. Maria was born on Oct. 3, 1937, in Caveira, Flores – one of the nine Azorean islands located off the coast of Portugal. She immigrated to the United States along with her husband, infant daughter and mother-in-law in June of 1959.

Maria mastered the English and Italian languages in addition to her native Portuguese. She became a talented seamstress and excelled in the industry for many years before becoming a bookkeeper at Russem’s Clothing Store of Lawrence, Mass.

She then moved on to a career as an agent for Carey Insurance in Methuen, Mass. But she realized her true calling as a teacher’s aide in elementary education for Lowell Public Schools. She spoiled the students with all her love and attention as if they were her own children.

Maria was a valued member of the choir and an active member of Saints Peter and Paul Church in Lawrence, Mass., and served as president of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Portuguese American Civic League.

Upon retiring, Maria and Mario fulfilled their dream of living in Florida in 2003 where they joined the Catholic community of Saint Lucie. They also continued their lifelong traditions at the Portuguese American Cultural Center of Port Saint Lucie, Fla.

Maria lit up the room.  She was funny, adventurous, fearless and full of life.  She loved to cook, dance, garden and celebrate life.  She was generous, empathetic, caring and loving.  She will be sorely missed by her family, friends and countless lives that she touched.

Maria is survived by her daughter Maria Fatima; son-in-law, Luciano Silva; grandchildren Belinda and Brandon; great-grandson, Benjamin; sisters, Celina and Adelaide; brothers, Augusto, Jorge and Mario; and many nieces and nephews.

Maria and Mario celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2016. They were a loving, inseparable couple who traveled the world together and made a long-lasting impression on all that they met.

In addition to her beloved husband, Mario, she was predeceased by several siblings, Luna, Liberia, Lionel, Jose, and Antonio.

A mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Lucie Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Samuel Aaron Tecsi, 18, Vero Beach

Our beloved Samuel “Sammy” Aaron went home to rest in the arms of Jesus on July 14, 2018, in Vero Beach. Sammy was born Aug. 12, 1999, to Victoria Levatino and David Tecsi.

Sammy loved basketball and surfing. Sammy had such a tender heart.

He is survived by his mother, Victoria Levatino, of Vero Beach; father, David Tecsi, of Vero Beach; two sisters, Teagyn Levatino and Daelyn Levatino, of Tennessee; maternal grandparents, Caroline (Ance) Brewer, of Indiana; paternal grandmother, Sue Tecsi; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was predeceased by two grandfathers, Arthur Antol Tecsi and Lawrence Granger.
