INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — An adult and two children were not injured after the vehicle they were in struck and killed a bull roaming along the road, authorities said.
The bull died from the impact of the car, which was traveling at 50 mph, Indian River County Fire Rescue spokesman Cory Richter said. Richter said the bull might have escaped from a nearby farm.
Richter said an adult and two children were traveling in a small four-door car about 9:30 p.m. Sunday on 66th Avenue and 69th Street in north county. A bull walked out in front of the vehicle and was subsequently struck and killed.
The three people in the car, who all were wearing seat belts, refused to be transported to the hospital. The vehicle that struck the bull had moderate front end damage, Richter said.
Details on where the trio were traveling to were not immediately available. Richter said he thinks the area of the crash is relatively dark at night.
The crash site is not far from the Dent Family Miniature Horse Ranch, Winter Beach Farm, Hacienda Del Sol Andalusians LLC, Bellewood Plantation and the Treasure Coast Animal Emergency and Specialty Hospital. Officials from those agencies were not immediately available for comment.
