INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 29-year-old man suspected of breaking into a home, cooking spaghetti and walking around naked as the homeowner looked on in fear, was jailed after the woman alerted authorities, deputies said.

The suspect told deputies the homeowner, 70, was a friend. But, the 70-year-old woman instead told deputies she did not know the man, reports show.

Deputies were already searching for the man – identified as Samit Amit Irving – because he was wanted on unrelated warrants.

Deputies arrested Irving, of the 3800 block of 42nd Place, Gifford, on a variety of charges including burglary of an occupied dwelling, theft and exposure of sexual organs. Irving is being held at the Indian River County Jail without bond.

A deputy was searching for Irving about 6 p.m. Monday at a home near 64th Court. A woman flagged down the deputy.

The woman said a man, later identified as Irving, had earlier ran into her home and closed the door behind him while she sat on the couch. Irving then told the woman, “Don’t say anything, the police are after me and are outside right now. I can’t leave,” reports show.

The woman said Irving then began to boil some water and made himself a bowl of spaghetti, authorities said. Irving then went to the bathroom to wash up and kept the bathroom door open to keep an eye on the woman.

Irving got fully undressed while washing up and then began to walk around the home naked, reports show. The woman said she was afraid to leave.

Irving then got dressed and fled the home. The deputy saw Irving run into a wooded area behind Wabasso Foods, 6375 85th Street.

Deputies arrested Irving and took him to the county jail. Irving has an arraignment at 8:30 a.m. August 15, court records show.
