Dorothy Fess, 89, Vero Beach

Beloved Sister, Aunt and friend, Dorothy (nee Mytych) Fess, 89, passed away peacefully Monday at her home in Vero Beach. Dorothy was born in Queens, N.Y., in 1929.

She lived and worked in New York until she and her husband, Nick, retired and moved from Ossining, N.Y., to Vero Beach in August of 1998.

Dorothy retired as a vice president at Scudder, Stevens & Clark, an investment management company in New York City.

She is survived by her siblings, Jean Donovan, of Danvers, Mass., and Blanche Riordan, of Reston, Va., and James Riordan.

She was predeceased by her husband; and sisters, Joan Coleman, of New Canaan, Conn., and Claire Gorzelany, of Phoenix, Ariz.

She enjoyed the company and affection of many nieces, nephews, great- and grand-nieces and nephews.

A celebration of the mass of Christian burial for Dorothy will be held on Tuesday, May 15, at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Holy Cross Church, 500 Iris Lane Vero Beach, FL 32963.

 

Bill Sweet, 78, Vero Beach

Bill Sweet, 78, of Vero Beach, passed away May 8, 2018, at Indian River Medical Center after a lengthy battle with cancer.

He had two wonderful sons, Scott and Stacey, with his lovely wife, Nancy, who was a wonderful wife and mother.

Bill was a firefighter in Manchester, Conn., and unfortunately divorced in 1988.

He retired in 1996 and moved to Vero Beach with his life partner, Anne Devanney.

Bill loved to surf fish on the beach and painting acrylics. His painting specialty was tiki bars in Florida.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, May 12, at the Italian American Club in Vero Beach.
