Police said Greg Alyn Carlson is wanted by the FBI for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution and assault with intent to commit rape. Carlson might be traveling in a stolen white four-door Hyundai Accent rental car.

The car has a South Carolina license plate number: NKI-770, police said.

Carlson also might be in possession of a stolen pistol. He is considered armed and dangerous, according to an FBI alert.

Carlson previously lived in Santa Monica, California. Last September, Los Angeles police arrested Carlson for assault with intent to commit rape, burglary and assault with a deadly weapon, FBI officials said.

On September 26, Carlson posted bond and was released. Officials said Carlson then fled to a family home in South Carolina, where he left with a stolen handgun, rental car and a large amount of cash.

The fugitive indicated that he will not return to California to face prosecution, FBI officials said.

Carlson fled South Carolina and was seen twice last November in Jacksonville and in Daytona Beach, Florida. A federal arrest warrant was issued for Carlson last December, FBI officials said.

Anyone with information on Carlson should contact the local FBI office, the Miami office at 754-703-2000 or the nearest American Embassy or Consulate.
