SEBASTIAN — A 40-year-old man died Wednesday after he was found unconscious in a backyard at a residential pool, authorities said.
“Right now, that’s what it looks like,” Indian River County Fire Rescue spokesman Cory Richter said about the possible drowning. An official cause of death has not yet been determined.
Emergency service officials responded to a 911 call about 12:30 p.m. Wednesday after a person who was at the home found the man unresponsive in the pool. The home is located in the 200 block of Poinciana Street, just east of the Sebastian Municipal Airport and west of U.S. 1.
Richter said the man was already dead before crews arrived. The man’s identity and how long he was in the pool were not available.
Details on if anyone else lives at the home were not available. Richter said the Sebastian Police Department will be investigating the man’s death.
Sebastian police were not immediately available for comment.
