PHOTOS: Community spirit flourishes at Hibiscus Festival

The two-day Hibiscus Festival hosted by Main Street Vero Beach blossomed once again along the streets of historic Vero Beach this past weekend, bringing the community together while raising awareness and funds to preserve the historic downtown area.
Things had kicked off Thursday evening at the Heritage Center with the crowning of Katie Toperzer as Miss Hibiscus 2018.
There was something for everyone at the festival – pony rides, bounce houses, balloon clowns and face painting for the little ones, entertainment that included a dog circus, puppeteer and magician, and various musical groups, a Hibiscus Festival Fine Art and Fine Craft Show that featured more than 50 artists, a Children’s Art Show, and of course, lots of great food.
On Saturday, even a passing storm didn’t deter participants in the ninth annual Shopping Cart Parade that featured creatively decorated carts delivering cartloads of canned and boxed food items to benefit the United Against Poverty Member Share Grocery Program.
