Anticipation for ‘The Club’ builds within LakePark

Construction in Minto’s LakePark at Tradition is well underway, giving the developer enough breathing room to get started on The Club – the “hub” of the community featuring resort-style recreation.

The state-of-the-art fitness center will be matched with a resort-style swimming pool and spa surrounded with shaded cabanas.

A covered terrace will provide outdoor seating and barbecue grills, and a special events lawn will be the place to be when activities are planned.

LakePark is called a 55-and-better (not older) community for a reason. “It’s done very well,” Minto Vice President of Communities Steve Svopa said of the development, later adding that he, himself, is nearing his 55th birthday. “I’m almost there. It better be better!”

LakePark is the companion neighborhood to TownPark at Tradition, also under development by Minto. The key difference is the age restrictions. TownPark is a traditional community, no age limits. LakePark, however, is restricted to active adults who are at least 55 years old.

And, while LakePark residents can avail themselves to the amenities at TownPark, TownPark residents may not use LakePark’s amenities.

Svopa explained that many active adults may have grandchildren come to visit. They wouldn’t be allowed to use the resort-style pool or spa at LakePark, but they’d be allowed next door at TownPark.

“I don’t know that we’ve done one of these before,” Svopa said of having sister communities that share (albeit one-sidedly) amenities.

The Club will be a place where residents can congregate, mix and mingle. Activities will be coordinated as residents request them. Svopa said residents will take the lead on what is offered at The Club. Nearly all communities want fitness centers, pools and spas. But anything else? That really varies from neighborhood to neighborhood. “Those are things we’ll work with them on,” Svopa said. The residents can get involved and design and create their own programs.

TownPark’s recreation center includes its own resort-style pool, basketball, tennis, bocce, pickle ball and horseshoes on outside courts, a fitness center and yoga studio.

There is also a clubroom that features a billiard room, library, multimedia and activity rooms. Parks and nature trails surround both communities.

Homes in LakePark at Tradition are already selling and come in a wide variety of floor plans and sizes.

There are nine maintenance-free single-family and villa floor plans ranging in size from 1,565-2,220 square feet under air with between 2-3 bedrooms and 2-2.5 baths. Prices start from the low $200,000s.

The villas are duplex-style, with two units connected.

“It lives like a single-family house,” Svopa said of the villas. Yes, the units share a wall, but they’re built in a way that brings in the natural light.

All homes feature quality and energy-efficient construction, open interiors, spacious kitchens and designer baths.

Svopa said the homes are customizable.

“We give them lots of opportunities” for upgrades, he said, noting that interiors can be modified, as can roofs.

“I’m not sure how I’d describe that,” Svopa said of the community’s architectural style.

He said it’s very much like “traditional Florida” but not “Old Florida.”

Construction on The Club is expected to wrap up in the coming months and be ready for residents at the end of summer.

The sales center and six designer models are open Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  LakePark at Tradition is located at 11428 SW Lake Park Drive, Port St. Lucie.
