FELLSMERE — Police are searching for a man who stole beers from a refrigerator at a gas station last night, authorities said. Officers also are looking for a woman described as a person of interest.
A customer who saw the man acting suspicious had notified the clerk after the man already left, said Fellsmere police Officer Mike Ruiz. The clerks did not have access to the cameras at the time. The owner came in Saturday morning and reviewed the surveillance footage, which showed the man stealing the items.
Police said the unknown man about 8 p.m. Friday walked into the Sunoco gas station, located at 2 N. Broadway Street, just north of County Road 512 and Little League Park. The man took beers from the fridge and left the store without paying, police said.
“The picture we posted where he is crouched down is him placing one of the beers into his bag,” Ruiz said. The amount of beers the man stole was not immediately available.
Surveillance photos show the man with a black cap, a white and grey striped shirt and black pants. Police said he appeared to have a tattoo on his arm, possibly “three words stacked in order.”
A woman in another surveillance photo is described as a person of interest. The photo shows the woman wearing a grey “Elite Motors” shirt while talking with a person outside of the business.
Police think the suspect and woman left from the store in a silver Ford Focus. Anyone with information regarding the pair should call police at 772-571-1360.
No further details were immediately available.
