Marilyn C. Link, Vero Beach
Marilyn Calmes Link, of Vero Beach, died on Monday, March 19, 2018, after a brief illness. She was born in Glendale, Calif., in 1924. She moved to Binghamton, N.Y., in 1942.
Miss Link graduated from New York University with a B.S. in Education and from University of Illinois with an M.S. in Education. She was a public school teacher in New Jersey and an instructor at the University of Nebraska before she worked as a sales executive in the airline industry in New York City.
As a licensed commercial pilot, holding multi-engine and instrument ratings she logged over 2,000 hours. She also worked at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., where she edited several publications for children.
Her awards include: the University Aviation Association Award, the Frank G. Brewer Trophy, the Lady Hay Drummond Trophy, Binghamton University Distinguished Service Award, the Florida Atlantic University President’s Distinguished Service Medallion, a Doctor of Humane Letters honorary degree by the State University of New York awarded at Binghamton University in 2013 and Doctor of Humane Letters honorary degree at Florida Institute of Technology in 2017. She also received several honorary awards from professional organizations for her volunteer work.
She moved to Vero Beach in 1974 to serve as Trustee and Managing Director of Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution, which is now part of FAU. After her retirement in 1982, she was appointed Director Emeritus of Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute Foundation.
Until June 1994, she was Secretary-Treasurer and Trustee of the Link Foundation, an organization dedicated to the advancement of Ocean Engineering, Simulation, Aerospace and Energy Research. She remained active with this Foundation as a Special Advisor until her death.
Miss Link was also a Trustee of Florida Institute of Technology and Advisory Director of Wachovia Bank, now Wells Fargo.
She enjoyed playing tennis at West Side Racquet Club and Riomar Bay Yacht Club and was an active golfer, Bridge player and Bingo fan at Vero Beach Country Club. She belonged to the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was a member of Community Church since 1977.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews and Godchildren.
In lieu of flowers, it was her wish that contributions be made to the Link Foundation, c/o Binghamton University Foundation, P.O. Box 6005, Binghamton, NY 13902, or the Community Church, 1901 23rd Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018, at 11 a.m. at the Community Church with Dr. Bob Baggott and Dr. Casey Baggott officiating.

Robert Michael Livingston, 82, Vero Beach
Robert Michael Livingston, M.D., 82, of Vero Beach, passed away at his home. Bob was born July 23, 1935, in Binghamton, N.Y., to Sarah (nee Levene) and Frank Livingston.
He was a brilliant person. He was valedictorian at Blair Academy in New Jersey, graduated cum laude from Harvard and earned his M.D. from Yale. He completed his residency at New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and went on to build a popular and busy practice in Englewood Cliffs, N.J., in the 1960s and ‘70s.
He was a courageous trailblazer for women’s reproductive rights and the pro-choice movement, and opened the first freestanding birthing center in New Jersey. He then moved his practice to Boca Raton, Fla., until his retirement.
He had thousands of grateful patients and he inspired his three children (and many of their friends) to become physicians.
Bob was an outstanding clarinetist and loved playing throughout his life. He was an avid daily reader of the New York Times. He also enjoyed boating with his family in his younger days.
He had an excellent sense of humor, even appearing at a holiday party as his alter ego Dymo Label Man.
Bob will be lovingly remembered by his children, Stephen (partner, Sandy), Wendy (partner, Abram), and Jeff (partner, Michele); and seven grandchildren, Jordan, Suzy, Josh, Julia, Jacob, Liam, and Miles.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 25, at Temple Beth Shalom, Vero Beach.
