Robert H. Causland, 96, Vero Beach
Robert H. Causland, 96, of Vero Beach, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at his home. He was born in Chicago to the late Herbert and Leona Randle Causland.
He had lived in Litchfield, Conn., before moving to Vero Beach 30 years ago.
He was a graduate of St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Ind., and a veteran of World War II, serving as an Ensign in the US Navy.
Robert had served as CEO and president of Wickhen Chemical in Huguenot, N.Y., before his retirement.
He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach where he served as a Lector and brought communion to homebound members of the church.
Survivors include his second wife, Norma Causland, of Vero Beach; children, John Causland, of Ann Arbor, Mich., Janet (Michael) Magnifico, of Litchfield, Conn., Mary Ermides, of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Roberta (Todd) Ruppel, of Sleepy Hollow, N.Y., Leonard (Donna) Causland, of Silverthorne, Colo., and Christopher (Holly) Causland, of Kingman, Ariz.; grandchildren, Alecia, Lauren and Juliana Magnifico, Matthew Ruppel and Genevieve Ruppel, and Katherine and Kristen Ermides; and great-grandchildren, Marcos Magnifico and Everett Breilein.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Genevieve Korenchan Causland; son-in-law, Douglas Ermides; and brothers, Richard and James Causland.

Mass was celebrated 10 a.m., Thursday, March 15, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach. He will be transferred to the Rowe Funeral Home in Litchfield, Conn., for final services and in interment at St. Anthony’s Cemetery next to Genevieve.
Connie Mattina DeSantis, 79, Vero Beach
Connie Mattina DeSantis, 79, of Vero Beach, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2018. Connie was born on May 27, 1938, in the Bronx, N.Y., the daughter of Frank and Filomena Mattina.
Connie enjoyed many jobs throughout the years at Deloitte & Touche, New Milford Bank & Trust, and New Milford Hospital where she was able to meet so many great people along the way.
Connie was a generous and loving woman who always seemed to make everyone laugh, she enjoyed singing karaoke and dancing.
Connie enjoyed spending her free time reading books, playing games on the computer, and relaxing by the pool.
She was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her and was known for her “Bronx” accent.
Connie will be greatly missed by her beloved husband, Giuseppe “Pino” DeSantis; her son, Frank Caldera (Ruth Anderson) of Sebastian; her granddaughter, Jamie Kalliomaki, of New Milford, Conn.; and her grandson, Robert Hickey, of Long Island, N.Y.
Connie leaves behind her three dogs who she loved dearly, Bunny, Benji and Lucky. She is also survived by many other family and friends.
Connie was predeceased by her loving daughter, Cristine Kalliomaki; and her brother, Joseph Mattina.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2018, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach.
Peter F. Socci, 78, Sebastian
Peter F. Socci, 78, of Sebastian, passed away March 14, 2018, in his home. Born in Settefrati, Italy, he was the son of the late Ercole and Maria (Macari) Socci and husband of the late Frances (Titello) Socci.
Pete previously resided in Stamford, Conn., and has resided in Sebastian since 1984.
He had been employed as a mechanic, welder and retired as the fleet supervisor for the City of Sebastian. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and his family and friends.
He was the beloved father of Rosanne Socci and Lisanne Randolph; brother of Rafaella Castellucci (Albino), Antonio Socci (Emilia), John Socci (Loretta), Leo Socci (Kathy), Jack Socci (Theresa); uncle of many nieces and nephews; and grandfather of Hannah Rose Burns. He leaves his beloved dog, Louie.
He was predeceased by his brother, Giuseppe Socci.
A visitation will be held Sunday, March 18, from 4-7 p.m. at Seawinds Funeral Home, 735 S. Fleming St., Sebastian, with a Prayer Service at 6 p.m. in the chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 19, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Sebastian Catholic Church followed by burial in Sebastian City Cemetery.
